This is Rick.
I've created a blogger blog because I now know almost as many people actively using Blogspot as I know people using Livejournal. LJ is becoming a ghost-town. I figured that if I were to have my own place on this here website, then I'd probably be more likely to actually check what my friends are posting on a regular basis.
This Blogspot blog is not friends-only, and as such, if I bother to utilise it for anything beyond following friends' blogs, I'll be putting different content on here than I would on LJ. We'll see.

If I fail to ever use this site, then it probably just means I've forgotten, but I'm continuing to rate music and write 1-line useless reviews here - http://rateyourmusic.com/~richeym - and you should go look at that instead.
What to write? The 'blank canvas' effect is intimidating. Ought there be a mission-statement? Perhaps. This could be an outlet for creative writing, and a place to attempt to write structured intelligent posts about interesting cultural things and thoughts that entirely differs from the meandering jumble of my abandoned, derelict LJ. I have a suspicion that to outlay a desire to aim towards such would result in a mental rebellion against the self-imposed responsibility and thus I would be deterred. The zeal required may also be better directed towards my novel which presently languishes fragmented and incoherent within a misshapen .doc.
